Polished Concrete

Polished concrete is our most popular form of low maintenance flooring for eco-friendly spaces and modern design.

Polished concrete is the process of mechanically grinding and polishing a densified concrete slab to the desired level of depth and sheen. Depth options range from minimal (no stone, or aggregate, exposure) to deep (full aggregate exposure). Concrete isn't considered polished until it has been ground to the 400 grit level, but can be finished all the way up to a 3000 grit level, which makes the floor extremely reflective, almost mirror-like. Polished concrete is exceptionally durable, eco friendly, energy efficient, hypoallergenic, and versatile. It’s the perfect balance of beauty, sustainability, and economy.

Commercial.

Durable, beautiful, and modern. Concrete polishing will brighten your space and add value as a long term investment into your business, work force, and environment. Polishing creates zero VOCs, and by using your existing concrete slab, you eliminate potential waste from sourcing limited or carbon negative resources (e.g. hardwood, tile, carpet, VCT, LVT). All while outlasting all other flooring options in lifecycle and durability.

Residential.

Nothing compares to the look and feel of polished concrete in your home.

Whether you’re rehabbing an old existing concrete slab or pouring a brand new one, involving Luxcrete early in the planning process enables us to advise on all the various elements that go into achieving your ideal concrete floor.

Types of Finish

Paste.

The go-to favorite for an “architectural look.” This finish means polishing the top-most portion of the concrete surface, exposing zero stone, and leaving the natural characteristics of the slab itself. Also called burnish finish.

Minimal.

This is grinding just past the concrete paste, exposing the fine sands for a salt and pepper look with very minimal stone exposure.

Full Exposure.

The most visually stunning and truly classic polished concrete. We grind deep enough to expose all existing aggregate in the concrete slab, giving you a terrazzo-style look. This is achievable on existing slabs. For new-builds, we love to collaborate with clients early on in the process to create custom designs.
